So today, I slept in. Not a lot and definitely not on purpose. But enough to make me jump out of bed and think "oh sh!t" when I finally did wake up. But surprisingly, the world did not end. The Gremlin was still asleep, 2.0 was passed out in his room, the Monster was lying at the foot of the bed and her Majesty was perched on my shoulder.
So I did what any schedule-loving, neurotic mother worried about keeping everyone happy and calm would do... I got us back on schedule. I woke up 2.0, fed him and got him dressed. Then I got dressed, brushed my teeth and started to make breakfast for the Gremlin. She woke up shortly thereafter and all three of us humans had breakfast in the dinning room. The Monster joined us and did the clean up. It most definitely wasn't the way we were "supposed" to do our morning routine, but it went very well.
Then 2.0 and I went on an adventure. That's right, we donned our safari hats and went out into the great big world, just the two of us. And again, while it wasn't perfect (I spent 50 minutes sitting in the back seat of the car parked in the underground parking deck at Target while breastfeeding him because he just wasn't going to make it to the next stop without eating something DAMN IT!) it was fun.
I think this is what my husband has been trying to teach me for years...stop trying to control the things you can't control and relax a little bit. Funny I should be learning it from the child we conceived by accident. :)
