Tears Falling From the Sky

It's raining. That is appropriate since today is my first day not attached to my little man. The weather kind of reflects my mood.

Of course, the three practice runs we did last week were great. Then today was...not. The Gremlin woke up screaming at 6:30 because her diaper had soaked through and her sheets were drenched (she drank at least 16 ounces of fluids before bed last night, so it is no wonder).

2.0 has been waking up at 6:15, eating and then going back to sleep until I go in and get him at 7:30, so he was screaming as well.

So the Gremlin and I went and got 2.0, sat in his rocking chair while he ate and cuddled for a little bit until the lure of the books was too much. After blowing her nose on three different clean burp clothes, she went to get some books to read.

The rest of the morning went ok except for the fact that I decided to walk them to the nanny since we were so early, which normally would have been perfect except for the first sentence of this post. Good thing I took my umbrella. We needed it.

So picture this...

The Monster on the leash, stopping every few minutes to rub her nose or shake off (she isn't crazy about the rain). The Gremlin in one side of the double stroller complaining about the aqua on her shoes (the rest of her was well protected from the rain). 2.0's car seat and bouncy seat in the other side of the stroller, getting somewhat wet. Our messenger bag full of stuff sitting on the front of the stroller getting kicked by the Gremlin and splashed by the water coming up from the wheel. 2.0 hanging on my chest, as usual. And a huge golf umbrella sticking out of the cup holder keeping 2.0 and I dry.

We were weaving all around on the sidewalk. People were crossing the street to get out of our way. At one point, a guy waiting for the bus commented about the crew I had and stepped as far back as he could.

But we made it. We unloaded everyone and everything at the nanny's and after linger a little too long and asking for a few too many kisses, I walked out the door.

2.0 was sitting in his seat smiling and checking out everything. The Gremlin was closing the door behind me. And the Monster was patently waiting for me outside.

After all that, work will be a breeze!

Here is 2.0 right after getting several kisses from his big sister and the Gremlin showing him her flash cards.

  2. It is so hard to leave when your maternity leave was so wonderful. He'll get things sorted out soon with eating and sleeping!

    1. Apparently he was perfect. This is the baby we expected before. Glad we had a little "accident" and made him. :)

Hi Ho Hi Ho, It's Off to Work I Go

Had to head into the office today. Everyone went along with the show this morning and we didn't have too many glitches. Other than the fact that someone likes to eat the Play-Dough. I gave her one warning and told her it was going away if she ate it again, so of course she ate it again. I know she knows what I am saying and is just testing me to see if I will do what I threaten. I tell you, it is hard to be firm and consistent. Especially when she looks up at me with a single tear in her eye and points at the Play-Dough and says "Doe...more...peez!" And as for the first day at the nanny yesterday... 2.0 was PERFECT. He stayed on schedule, went down for his naps with no issues, didn't cry or fuss and ate just a little less than each bottle I sent over. When I picked them up the nanny said, "he's nothing like the Gremlin was back then." No, he isn't, THANK GOD!!! And of course big sister LOVED having him there with her all day long. As for me, I ...

Wouldn't Trade It for the World

I wish I had a way of recording life as it was happening. I wanted to preserve the memory of what happened that badly, so I am writing it here to remember forever... I'll give you a little back story first. The Gremlin woke up around 5:15 or so and cried out for a few minutes. It was an odd cry. It was not her "I'm hungry" cry or a simple "I woke up and didn't want to" cry. This was more of a "I am scared, help me" sound. But she fell back asleep, so I figured it was just a bad dream and now it was done. 2.0 woke up at 6:15, so I went in to feed him. And when I got to his door, the Gremlin started crying out again. And didn't stop. My husband has to leave for work at 6:45, so there was no way he was going to be able to help out. I was on my own. So after I finished feeding 2.0, I went into the Gremlin's room. This is when I wanted the filming to start. I walked in and saw something that just broke my heart. The Gremlin was sittin...

Gifts of All Shapes and Sizes

I have been traveling for work a lot lately. I was gone Monday-Wednesday this week, but came back last night. So imagine someone's surprise when she woke up this morning to her mommy, whom she hadn't seen since Sunday night, singing Happy Birthday to her. Know what she did? She laughed, turned over and said "No no. Way, way." Then coyly turned her head and smiled up at me. I don't think she likes my singing. On that, she is not alone. Today is the big day. She is turning 2. Are we in for a year of tantrums and screaming? Maybe, but as long as there are also days like today, where she laughed and danced and gave me kisses, it is all worth it. Here are a few photos of the birthday girl and my sleeping prince. The first is the outfit we picked out this morning, because it looks like something daddy would wear (swear, that is what she said when she picked it out of the closet). The second is the outfit we HAD to change in to when it arrived via special delivery fr...
