Keep it in the Closet

The photos below were taken about three minutes AFTER Miss Wobbly Pants crashed into the closet door. It was a loud thud. Thankfully I had something in my mouth or the audible gasp I would have made would have made things even worse. You can always tell how bad things are going to be based on the pause before the crying starts. This pause was about 15 seconds.

Thankfully, we have LOTS of distraction tools.

First was a hug and kiss from mom. That didn't help.
Then there was pointing in the closet and asking where the kitty was. That caused a pause in the crying.
Then we moved to looking at the running water. The crying stopped, but the sniffles and clinging stayed.
Then we put on our necklaces (hair bands). Now we were talking.
Finally, we sat next to the sink and played in the water. What crash in the closet?

And we were a little disappointed when we turned on Spirit FM this morning and learned Aunt Abby wasn't there today. But since she was GETTING A DISTINGUISH ALUMNI AWARD from our former grade school, I guess we can let it slide. Maddy did a little dance when she heard that (although it could have been because of "The Farmer in the Dell" playing on the Fridge Farm, but... we'll take what we can get).

Hi Ho Hi Ho, It's Off to Work I Go

Had to head into the office today. Everyone went along with the show this morning and we didn't have too many glitches. Other than the fact that someone likes to eat the Play-Dough. I gave her one warning and told her it was going away if she ate it again, so of course she ate it again. I know she knows what I am saying and is just testing me to see if I will do what I threaten. I tell you, it is hard to be firm and consistent. Especially when she looks up at me with a single tear in her eye and points at the Play-Dough and says "Doe...more...peez!" And as for the first day at the nanny yesterday... 2.0 was PERFECT. He stayed on schedule, went down for his naps with no issues, didn't cry or fuss and ate just a little less than each bottle I sent over. When I picked them up the nanny said, "he's nothing like the Gremlin was back then." No, he isn't, THANK GOD!!! And of course big sister LOVED having him there with her all day long. Wouldn't Trade It for the World

I wish I had a way of recording life as it was happening. I wanted to preserve the memory of what happened that badly, so I am writing it here to remember forever... I'll give you a little back story first. The Gremlin woke up around 5:15 or so and cried out for a few minutes. It was an odd cry. It was not her "I'm hungry" cry or a simple "I woke up and didn't want to" cry. This was more of a "I am scared, help me" sound. But she fell back asleep, so I figured it was just a bad dream and now it was done. 2.0 woke up at 6:15, so I went in to feed him. And when I got to his door, the Gremlin started crying out again. And didn't stop. My husband has to leave for work at 6:45, so there was no way he was going to be able to help out. I was on my own. So after I finished feeding 2.0, I went into the Gremlin's room. Gifts of All Shapes and Sizes

I have been traveling for work a lot lately. I was gone Monday-Wednesday this week, but came back last night. So imagine someone's surprise when she woke up this morning to her mommy, whom she hadn't seen since Sunday night, singing Happy Birthday to her. Know what she did? She laughed, turned over and said "No no. Way, way." Then coyly turned her head and smiled up at me. I don't think she likes my singing. On that, she is not alone. Today is the big day. She is turning 2. Are we in for a year of tantrums and screaming? Maybe, but as long as there are also days like today, where she laughed and danced and gave me kisses, it is all worth it.
