Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity

DISCLAIMER: This is yesterday's post. I meet an old friend at the zoo yesterday and we hung out for a while, so I didn't have time to get this finished up. :)

OK, maybe not so fresh and fruity, but definitely tooty. Looks like coffee and chocolate are out for a while. We had a really rough evening. And by we, I actually, surprisingly, mean mostly 2.0. My husband and I were largely unscathed by his crying and fussing. Of course we picked him up and tried to make him feel better. And of course we felt bad for him. But it was nothing like back in the days with the Gremlin. We were at our wits end whenever she cried. I guess A) we know how to handle it a little better now; and B) he is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much quieter than his sister EVER was.

I had some coffee earlier in the day, and that seemed to cause some issues (nothing too terrible). But man, the dark chocolate I had in the evening hated little dude. He screamed on and off from 7:30-11:00. We gave him gas drops twice and had lots of issues. Thankfully, he settled down around 11 and then had a normal night.

What was truly amazing was that his sister never once woke up the entire time. She slept until about 8 this morning. Here we always thought she was a light sleeper and we had to tiptoe around upstairs while she was asleep.

Below are 2.0's two outfits for the day. I love the plaid one (thanks Aunt Abby), but I think our not so little man won't fit in to it again. :(

    It still looks loose on him! I love that outfit too. We've got a whole box of clothes waiting for him!

      It's the snaps. He is so long things are snug down there. But I am definitely going to put him in it again, don't you worry. :)

Hi Ho Hi Ho, It's Off to Work I Go

Had to head into the office today. Everyone went along with the show this morning and we didn't have too many glitches. Other than the fact that someone likes to eat the Play-Dough. I gave her one warning and told her it was going away if she ate it again, so of course she ate it again. I know she knows what I am saying and is just testing me to see if I will do what I threaten. I tell you, it is hard to be firm and consistent. Especially when she looks up at me with a single tear in her eye and points at the Play-Dough and says "Doe...more...peez!" And as for the first day at the nanny yesterday... 2.0 was PERFECT. He stayed on schedule, went down for his naps with no issues, didn't cry or fuss and ate just a little less than each bottle I sent over. Wouldn't Trade It for the World

I wish I had a way of recording life as it was happening. I wanted to preserve the memory of what happened that badly, so I am writing it here to remember forever... I'll give you a little back story first. The Gremlin woke up around 5:15 or so and cried out for a few minutes. It was an odd cry. It was not her "I'm hungry" cry or a simple "I woke up and didn't want to" cry. This was more of a "I am scared, help me" sound. But she fell back asleep, so I figured it was just a bad dream and now it was done. 2.0 woke up at 6:15, so I went in to feed him. And when I got to his door, the Gremlin started crying out again. And didn't stop. My husband has to leave for work at 6:45, so there was no way he was going to be able to help out. I was on my own. So after I finished feeding 2.0, I went into the Gremlin's room. Gifts of All Shapes and Sizes

I have been traveling for work a lot lately. I was gone Monday-Wednesday this week, but came back last night. So imagine someone's surprise when she woke up this morning to her mommy, whom she hadn't seen since Sunday night, singing Happy Birthday to her. Know what she did? She laughed, turned over and said "No no. Way, way." Then coyly turned her head and smiled up at me. I don't think she likes my singing. On that, she is not alone. Today is the big day. She is turning 2. Are we in for a year of tantrums and screaming? Maybe, but as long as there are also days like today, where she laughed and danced and gave me kisses, it is all worth it.
